This product includes an infrared (IR) blaster, the Ocrustar mobile app, a keychain and more. For more detailed instructions, open the app and check the "Me" tab.
Watch the tutorial video at app.elksmart.com.
1. Download the app
iPhone (iOS): Scan the QR code, or search "Ocrustar" on the App Store, then download and install.
Android: Scan the QR code, or search "Ocrustar" on Google Play (or your app market), then download and install.
2. Plug in the infrared blaster
Open the app you just installed, take the IR blaster out of its silicone case, plug it into your phone's charging port, and point the blaster end at the appliance from a short distance.
iPhone (iOS): After the blaster is inserted correctly, wait 3–5 seconds for a pop-up, then select the matching IR blaster.
Turn these iOS settings off first
Before controlling appliances on iPhone, make sure the following are turned off (they are off by default):
- Mono Audio — Settings › Accessibility › Audio & Visual › Mono Audio
- Equalizer — Settings › Music › EQ
- iPhone 15 and newer (USB‑C) also needs: Settings › Sounds & Haptics › Headphone Safety › "USB audio accessory connected" — turn it off
Android: After the blaster is inserted correctly, a pop-up appears within 1 second. If it doesn't, turn on the OTG feature in your system settings manually.
OTG on some Android phones
Some vivo, OPPO, Xiaomi, OnePlus and Realme models must have OTG turned on manually.
3. Match your appliance
- Open the app and tap the button, or the button in the top‑left corner. Open the "Remote device type" page, choose your appliance type, then select the appliance brand.
- Follow the prompts to match your appliance and pick the most suitable remote code. A brand can have several code sets (for example, 3/8 means the brand has 8 code sets and you are trying the 3rd). Press the buttons one by one as prompted — the blaster's green light blinks when a code is sent. When the appliance responds correctly, that button is matched; move on to the next button until matching is complete.
Auto-match: If an air conditioner can't connect with "Auto-match", try "Manual match".
IR learning : Choose "IR learning" under the appliance type and follow the steps to record codes. This lets you copy any button from a physical infrared remote into the app.
Items marked with * are only supported on some product models. Plug in the IR blaster — if the feature doesn't appear in the app, your model doesn't support it.
4. Save the remote
After a successful match, the app saves the remote automatically. Swipe left on the remote's name, or long‑press it, to rename or delete the remote.
Frequently asked questions
The app is installed, but my phone doesn't recognize the IR blaster. What should I do?
- On Android, double‑check that OTG is turned on.
- On iOS, select the matching product and turn off Bluetooth, then try again.
- If you use a thick phone case, remove it and try again.
My phone recognizes the blaster, but I can't find the brand/model, or some buttons don't work. Why?
- The IR blaster can only control infrared appliances. Most Bluetooth-remote TVs are not supported (a TV remote with voice control is usually Bluetooth).
- If you can't find your brand, try searching for it — including its English name.
- If some remote buttons are wrong, go back to matching and try the next code set.
Notes
- Android and iOS blasters are not interchangeable. The Android Type‑C version (black plug core) does not work with the Apple iPhone 15+ USB‑C version (orange plug core).
- The app requests a few permissions; we make sure related features and information are never misused. See our Privacy Policy for details.
- Not every appliance can be controlled from our code library. If you run into an unsupported model, email us and we'll do our best to add it: [email protected].
